    Most Mexican bettors place their bets on a phone, so the quality of a sportsbook's mobile product matters as much as its odds. Only three of the four licensed sites we review offer a downloadable app. Winpot leads with apps for iOS and Android and the best app rating in Mexico (8.5); it carries over the full desktop experience, including free live streaming, cash out and the bet builder.

    Downloading safely

    Before you install anything, make sure the app belongs to the licensed .mx site. Sportsbooks sometimes offer Android apps as a direct download from their own website rather than through Google Play. That is not a problem in itself, but only download from the domain whose footer shows the SEGOB permit number and DGJS authorisation, and never from a link sent by a stranger or found on social media. An app copied from an unlicensed site will not give you the protection of a Mexican permit.

    Setting up your account on a phone

    Registration is easiest when your documents are to hand. Mexican sportsbooks verify your identity before the first withdrawal, and some ask for more than others: Winpot's process has seven steps and includes your RFC.
