All four accept OXXO, so what decides the order?
OXXO is the most familiar way to pay in cash in Mexico, and every licensed sportsbook we review accepts it. Because acceptance is universal, this ranking follows the overall quality of each sportsbook. Winpot leads with an 8.1 score and the best odds in Mexico, and it is also the most cash-friendly operator in the group: besides OXXO, it takes cash at other retail stores and lets you deposit and withdraw in cash at Winpot casinos through WINPOTCASH.
Jugabet is second, with OXXO alongside SPEI, Mercado Pago, AstroPay and e-wallets. BC.Game, third, has the lowest site-wide minimum deposit in Mexico (MX$10) and also accepts cash at other retailers. Brazino777 is fourth and takes OXXO, SPEI, cards, AstroPay and crypto, with a MX$100 minimum.
How an OXXO deposit works
In the sportsbook's cashier, choose OXXO and enter the amount. The site generates a payment reference, usually with a barcode, which you can print, save or simply show on your phone. Take it to any OXXO store, pay the amount in cash at the till and keep the receipt. The deposit is credited once the payment is confirmed to the sportsbook.
OXXO is a deposit method only. Winnings are paid back by SPEI or another withdrawal method, so even if you plan to bet entirely in cash you will need a bank account in your own name to withdraw, or, at Winpot, the option to collect at one of its casinos. You will also need to pass identity verification, because paying in cash does not make your betting account anonymous.
Tips for paying at OXXO
Paying at the till is simple, but a few details save trouble.
- Payment references expire; generate the reference shortly before you go to the store.
- Check the minimum and maximum amount for OXXO in the cashier, as they can differ from the site minimum.
- Keep the receipt until the deposit appears in your balance.
- Never pay a reference that someone else has given you or use a reference to fund another person's account.
- Winnings are subject to roughly 7% withholding in most states regardless of how you deposited.
Cash and self-control
Paying in cash can help you stick to a budget, because you see exactly what you are spending. It can also make it easy to stop at the store for one more top-up. Decide in advance how much you will deposit each week. Betting is for adults aged 18 and over, and if it is getting out of hand, the Línea de la Vida offers free advice on 800 911 2000.
