Is sports betting legal in Oklahoma?

No. Despite having one of the largest tribal gaming industries in the country, Oklahoma has not legalised sports betting in any form. There are no licensed retail sportsbooks in its casinos and no legal online sportsbooks, so none of the brands we rank can accept bets from inside the state.

The obstacle has been politics rather than public demand. Oklahoma's casinos operate under compacts between the state and its tribal nations, and any sports betting plan would need to fit within or amend those agreements. Governor Kevin Stitt has favoured a model that opens the market to commercial operators, while tribal leaders have argued that sports wagering should remain within their exclusive gaming rights.

What Oklahoma's casinos can offer instead

Oklahoma's tribal casinos offer slots, table games and other compact-approved games, but they cannot take sports wagers until the law changes. You may still see sports-themed promotions or watch parties at casino venues, but those are entertainment, not betting. Be wary of apps and websites that blur the line between contests and wagering: anything that lets you stake money directly on the outcome of a game is not a licensed sportsbook in Oklahoma, and it offers none of the protections a regulated market would. If and when a legal framework is agreed, licensed operators will need state and tribal approval before accepting a single bet.

Recent legislative efforts

Lawmakers have filed sports betting bills in several consecutive sessions, including proposals that would let tribes add sports wagering to their existing compacts through an optional supplement. In the 2026 session the state Senate voted down a legalisation proposal, ending hopes of a launch this year. Any future bill would still need agreement between the legislature, the governor and the tribes, and compact changes would also require federal approval.

We will update this page if a bill passes or a ballot measure is confirmed, but Oklahomans should not expect legal betting before the 2027 session at the earliest.

Legal options near Oklahoma

Several neighbours have regulated markets. Kansas, Colorado and Arkansas allow mobile sports betting, and Missouri's market launched in December 2025. If you are physically inside one of those states, an app licensed there will accept your bet. Texas, to the south, remains closed.

Offshore sportsbooks that market to Oklahoma residents operate without a US licence. They do not answer to any state regulator, and there is no recourse if a payout is refused, which is why we never include them in our rankings.

Thunder, Sooners and Cowboys

The Oklahoma City Thunder, Oklahoma Sooners and Oklahoma State Cowboys drive local sports interest, and the Thunder's recent success has only increased calls for a legal market.
