Fight betting in the US
The UFC is based in Las Vegas and stages events most weekends, from Fight Night cards at its Apex facility to pay-per-view shows in big arenas. Boxing runs on a less predictable schedule, with major title fights announced months ahead. Both sports draw heavy betting interest in the US, particularly on pay-per-view nights.
The moneyline is the basic fight bet, but most of the value and interest lies elsewhere. Method of victory (KO/TKO, submission or decision), round betting, total rounds, whether the fight goes the distance and, in boxing, the official scorecard outcome let you back a specific view of how the fight will play out. Parlays across a fight card are also common, as favourites are often priced too short to bet on their own.
Comparing BetMGM, bet365 and BetRivers
All three sportsbooks offer wide UFC and boxing coverage, including undercard bouts as well as main events. BetMGM tops the ranking on overall score. Its live betting coverage carries through fight nights, and its ties to MGM's Las Vegas venues make it a natural home for fight fans who also collect MGM Rewards.
bet365 is second and usually offers the sharpest prices, which matters in combat sports where the gap between a fair and a poor moneyline on a heavy favourite can be large. BetRivers is third, offering the main markets in a straightforward layout; experienced fight bettors may find fewer prop combinations there, but it is a solid choice for moneyline and method-of-victory bets.
Know the rules before fight night
Fight betting has more settlement quirks than most sports. A few things to check before you place a bet:
- What happens if a fighter is replaced on short notice. Most books void the bet, but read the house rules.
- How draws are treated in moneyline bets; in boxing especially, a draw can mean a losing moneyline bet unless you backed it.
- How the book defines a round finish and whether a stoppage between rounds counts in the previous or next round.
- Weigh-in results. A fighter who misses weight can signal a hard camp, and lines often move the day before.
Betting responsibly on big cards
You need to be in a state where online sports betting is legal and of legal age, which is 21 in most of them. A five- or six-fight main card gives plenty of chances to keep betting; deciding in advance which fights you will bet on, and sticking to it, is a good way to keep a fight night under control.
