How we ranked them

We used the iOS and Android apps of licensed sportsbooks in Italy and scored them on speed, stability, navigation and the features they share with the desktop site. Only books with a native app qualify.

What to look for

  • Native apps on both the App Store and Google Play
  • Face ID or fingerprint login
  • Push notifications for bet results and price changes
  • Deposits and withdrawals inside the app

Most Italian bets now start on a phone

Italians increasingly place their bets on smartphones, checking line-ups on the train, betting in-play from the sofa or following a Sinner match during a lunch break. A good betting app needs to load quickly, keep odds updated without freezing, make deposits and withdrawals simple and put responsible gambling tools within easy reach.

Every ADM-licensed sportsbook offers mobile betting, either through native apps or a mobile site. The apps for this list are those linked to each operator's licensed .it site; an app downloaded from a foreign store page or an unofficial source is not covered by Italian regulation.

LeoVegas sets the standard

LeoVegas is first by a distance. Its app, rated 9.5, is the highest-scoring part of any Italian sportsbook in our test, and the brand was built mobile-first from the start. Navigation is quick, in-play markets refresh smoothly, live streaming runs inside the app and both iOS and Android are covered. It also supports PostePay and PayPal, two of the most popular ways to pay in Italy.

888sport is second with an app rating of 8.9. We confirmed a native iOS app, and its simple layout is the reason we name it best for simple betting: finding a match and placing a single takes very few taps. bwin is third with polished iOS and Android apps rated 8.8; it is the strongest choice if you bet live, thanks to its fast in-play engine and streaming.

William Hill and Eurobet both score 8.7. William Hill's app is less modern than newer rivals but offers very good cash out, while Eurobet's is packed with Italian football markets but can feel cluttered on a small screen. Gioco Digitale (8.1) keeps things basic, which suits occasional bettors.

What to check before you install

A few quick checks save trouble later:

  • Download the app from the official App Store or Google Play listing, or from the link on the operator's .it site.
  • Make sure the app shows the same ADM logo and GAD concession number as the website.
  • Turn on biometric login and two-step verification if they are offered.
  • Find the deposit limit and self-exclusion settings in the app before you deposit, not after.
  • Disable push notifications for promotions if you find they tempt you to bet more often.

A phone in your pocket, a limit in your account

The convenience of an app is also its main risk: betting is always one tap away. All six apps are for adults aged 18 and over, and all link to the same account tools as the website, including deposit limits and the option to join the national RUA register. Winnings collected through the app are tax-free in the same way as on the desktop site.
