How we ranked them

We checked which payment methods each sportsbook licensed in Italy accepts on its local site. Every sportsbook here takes PostePay; they are ordered by our overall review score.

What to look for

  • Whether PostePay works for withdrawals as well as deposits
  • Minimum and maximum amounts for the method
  • Fees charged by the sportsbook or the payment provider
  • Whether PostePay deposits qualify for the welcome offer

PostePay: Italy's own way to pay

PostePay, the prepaid card range issued by Poste Italiane, is one of the most widely held payment cards in the country. Millions of Italians use it for online shopping, and many bettors prefer it because it keeps gambling money separate from their main bank account. The PostePay Evolution version also comes with an IBAN, which makes it work almost like a light current account.

Not every licensed sportsbook supports it, though. Of the six ADM-licensed operators in our review, four accept PostePay: LeoVegas, William Hill, Eurobet and Gioco Digitale. 888sport and bwin do not list it among their payment methods, so they are not included in this ranking.

Four sportsbooks, compared

LeoVegas leads with the highest overall score in Italy (9.0) and the strongest payouts rating at 9.2. If you top up PostePay through the Poste Italiane app and bet on your phone, LeoVegas's 9.5-rated app makes the whole process feel quick. The minimum deposit is 10 euros.

William Hill is second. It accepts PostePay from 5 euros and has one of the widest payment lists we found, so you have backup options if needed. It is also our pick for cash out. Eurobet is third and is the most natural fit for PostePay users who follow Italian football closely: it is rated best for Serie A betting, takes deposits from 5 euros and also accepts Paysafecard, another prepaid option.

Gioco Digitale completes the list. It has a 10 euro minimum deposit and the simplest sportsbook of the four, which suits occasional bettors who just want to load a prepaid card and place a few small bets.

Tips for paying with PostePay

Prepaid cards are a good budgeting tool if you use them that way:

  • Load only the amount you intend to bet that week; a prepaid card cannot go overdrawn.
  • Check whether the site pays withdrawals back to PostePay or to a bank account or IBAN instead.
  • Make sure the card is registered in your own name; cards belonging to someone else are refused at verification.
  • Keep your PostePay PIN and security codes private, and never share them with anyone claiming to be from a betting site.

Licensing and help

All four sportsbooks are ADM-licensed and show their GAD concession number in the footer of their .it site. You must be 18 or over to register. If you notice you are topping up your card more often than planned, the free Telefono Verde on 800 558 822 offers anonymous advice, and the RUA register lets you exclude yourself from every licensed site.
