Apple Pay at UK bookmakers
Apple Pay has become a standard payment option at UK betting sites, and all nine sportsbooks in our UK reviews accept it. For iPhone users it is often the quickest way to deposit: you confirm with Face ID or Touch ID and the funds arrive instantly, without typing in card numbers.
Behind the scenes, Apple Pay uses a card stored in your Apple Wallet. Because gambling with credit cards has been banned in the UK since April 2020, only a debit card in your wallet will work. If your default card is a credit card, the payment will be declined, so set your debit card as the card to use before depositing.
Which Apple Pay sites stand out
BetMGM leads the ranking. Apple Pay deposits work smoothly in its app, and with live streaming and strong football markets it is a good all-round choice for iPhone users. LeoVegas, second, is the natural pick if the app experience matters most to you: its app is the best-rated on our UK list at 9.5, and Apple Pay fits neatly into a mobile-first design.
bet365 is third and also accepts Google Pay, which is useful if you use both iOS and Android devices. William Hill, Unibet and Betfred support Apple Pay and Google Pay alike, and Betway accepts Apple Pay alongside PayPal and Trustly. VBet stands out for withdrawals, quoting payouts of zero to 24 hours via Apple Pay, Trustly and e-wallets, while Highbet supports Apple Pay for deposits on a smaller payment menu.
Apple Pay tips
Apple Pay is simple to use, but it helps to know how it behaves with betting accounts:
- Withdrawals are not always paid back to Apple Pay; some sites send them to the linked debit card or ask you to choose another method.
- Check whether the welcome offer accepts Apple Pay deposits as qualifying.
- Apple Pay works in Safari and in most bookmaker apps, but not on every desktop browser.
- Your bank's gambling block, if switched on, will also stop Apple Pay payments to betting sites.
Fast deposits, considered decisions
A deposit that takes two seconds can feel very different from one that needs a card number typed in. If you notice yourself topping up on impulse, try setting a daily or weekly deposit limit in your account; the bookmaker has to apply a reduction straight away, while any increase only takes effect after a cooling-off period.
