Is Sports Betting Legal in Spain?

Operators need a DGOJ general licence for betting plus a singular licence for each game type (for example Apuestas Deportivas de Contrapartida, fixed-odds sports betting) and may offer play only through .es domains. Licences are granted in open calls and renewed periodically.

How to check a sportsbook's licence

  1. Make sure the site uses a .es domain and shows the 'Juego Seguro' seal in the footer.
  2. Open the DGOJ operator register on ordenacionjuego.es and search for the company name or domain.
  3. Check that the operator holds a current singular licence for sports betting (Apuestas Deportivas) and that the exact domain is listed.
